MADISON, Conn. - The Madison Beach Hotel, located at 94 West Wharf Road in Madison, Connecticut, is pleased to announce the reopening of its restaurant, The Wharf. The newly redesigned restaurant offers a new culinary concept and décor that is a clear nod to the region. Classy, yet quintessentially New England, the restaurant offers six distinct areas tied together by a design scheme that speaks to varying degrees of casualness and formality. The Dining Room offers a nautical theme, white tablecloth experience, stone fireplace, and expansive ocean views highlighting a progressive coastal cuisine-a clear reflection of the regional flavors. The Wharf Bar features booth seating and a vibrant blue granite bar with an extensive selection of spirits, specialty cocktails, craft beers on tap, and wines by the glass. This area also features The Crow's Nest, a 2-seated high-top space attached to the bar in honor of the bar at the former Madison Beach Hotel. The Porch dining area overlooks the Long Island Sound with stone top tables, raw bar, and al fresco casualness. The Wine Room, which features the Big Table, a place for guests to experience wine and food tastings, is donned with walnut wine cabinets and millwork and features one of the most distinct collections of wines in Connecticut. Around the corner from the Wine Room is The Nook, which offers a more intimate experience for groups up to six.
Executive Chef Leo Bushey will continue to assume responsibility for the culinary leadership of restaurant. "Chef Bushey's appreciation for the local resources of the region is extraordinary," said food and beverage executive, Heather Tapper. "The new menu offers fresh, creative, local, and affordable seafood, meat, and poultry. The preparation, use of local farms, and presentation combine to create the ultimate wow factor," added Tapper. "We had a mandate to solidify The Wharf as having the best menu, wine list, and cocktail offerings on the Connecticut shoreline. We took that very seriously!"
The splendor of the dining room, accentuated by the views of the Long Island Sound, offers a unique dining experience. Visiting guests and shoreline residents have already adopted the restaurant as a social hub: "A big part of the reason why we've reworked the restaurant and bar is in response to neighborly nudges and ideas. We think we've responded to the nudges for an approachable bar and prideful restaurant," said General Manager John Mathers. "We were going for crisp and relevant with unexpected comforts and surprises and I think we now set the bar for the shoreline and complement the best of Connecticut! Lou Carrier, the President of our management company, Distinctive Hospitality Group, worked closely with our owners, Ric and Dawn Duques, to ensure their vision for The Wharf was realized. Collaborating with designer Kevin Curran, that vision of casual elegance was achieved."
The restaurant interior offers 120 seats, while The Porch features outdoor veranda seating for 46. Chef Bushey, whose resume includes top positions at a number of award-winning fine dining establishments in Connecticut, has developed a menu that incorporates fresh local ingredients and organic produce. The Wharf's progressive coastal cuisine imbued with simple, clean flavors will be enhanced by the utilization of fresh ingredients from the local farms and fishermen. The Wharf opens daily for breakfast (7:00 am - 10:00 am), lunch (11:30 am - 2:30 pm) and dinner (5:00 pm - 10:00 pm).
