DALLAS, Texas - The Highland Dallas hosted the Dallas Film Society (DFS) Honors where Director John Landis was presented with the 2015 Dallas Star Award. The evening's ceremony included a star-studded red carpet at the stylish and sophisticated hotel, lavish dinner provided by nationally-acclaimed Chef John Tesar of the hotel's award-winning restaurant Knife and an awards celebration honoring this year's most celebrated names in the film industry.

The hotel was honored to align with the DFS and Dallas International Film Festival (DIFF) to recognize Landis in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the “Blues Brothers,” as well as Texas writer, actor and producer L.M. Kit Carson. DFS also awarded the Texas Avery Animation Award presented by Reel FX to Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, writers and directors of “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and “The Lego Movie.” Additional festival award presentations included DIFF Grand Jury Prizes including Reel FX Animated Short Grand Jury Prize, The Arthur E. Benjamin, Sheri Deterling and Geoff Hawkes Audience Awards, Panavision Texas Filmmaker Award and Embrey Family Foundation Silver Heart Award.

The Ninth Annual Dallas International Film Festival began on April 9 and will run through April 19, screening 169 films representing 32 countries. There are a total of 18 premieres, including 11 World Premieres, three North American Premieres and four U.S. Premieres.

The Highland Dallas co-presented this year’s DFS Honors along with Arthur E. Benjamin Foundation, Sheri Deterling and Geoff Hawkes. The hotel also hosted the event’s Chairman’s Reception on April 10 and DIFF Panel Discussions and Camera Expo in its luxurious events space on April 11.
